VOTE NOW FOR FREESTYLE ATHLETE SHANE DORIAN FOR MTV2'S "ALL THAT ROCKS" SICKEST SPORTS MOMENT

On-line Voting for Dorian's Epic Teahupoo Tube Ends July 13th

Newport Beach, California

Freestyle proudly backs Shane Dorian as a nominee for the first annual MTV2 “All That Rocks” Sickest Sports Moment.  According to MTV2, “All That Rocks” is “the first show of its kind to recognize the emerging ‘Do It Yourself’ generation obsessed with technology and pop culture with an attitude influenced only by what rocks their world.”

Dorian’s monster September 11, 2005, Teahupoo tube, which has been called “the wave of his life” and has already won the Monster XXL Tube Award, is surfing’s sole nominee alongside such memorable moments as Danny Way’s Great Wall of China skateboard jump on July 9, 2005, and Mike Metzger’s Caesar’s Palace jump on May 4, 2006.

Way and Metzger’s planned jumps both broke world records in front of thousands of people, but what differentiates Dorian’s moment is the fact that there was no planning behind it and only about a dozen people actually witnessed it happen.

“I have total respect for what those guys do,” Dorian said. “But that’s the thing — they could go back and do their tricks again next week. But I could go out to Teahupoo and sit on my Jet Ski for the next eleven years and never see another wave like that.”

Voting is now underway at www.allthatrocks.mtv2.com and will commence on July 13th.  Hosted by Bam Margera, “All That Rocks” will air on MTV2 on Sunday, July 30th at 9 PM ET/PT.

Win or lose, Freestyle congratulations Shane on his nomination.
