FREESTYLE ANNOUNCES ITS 2006/07 TEAM OF STELLAR ATHLETES

Newport Beach, California

Freestyle is pleased to announce its ‘06/07 team of athletes. Going 25 years strong, Freestyle has not only re-invigorated its internal team and product offering, it has also amped up its athlete roster to include some of the best surfers and wakeboarders in the world.

“I’m stoked to re-sign most of the team and to add a couple new faces,” said Freestyle Sports Marketing Manager Chad Labass. “Obviously we have a couple of big guns in Cory and Shane, but we’re also excited about the young guys who are poised to make some big things happen in the near future.”

The 06/07 team includes:

Shane Dorian (Big Island, Hawaii) - The epitome of versatility, courage and passion, this former WCT veteran is now raising the performance bar of big wave surfing.

Cory Lopez (Indian Rocks Beach, Fla.) - Hands down one of the most versatile surfers in the world, two-time winner of the “Guts for Glory” Surfer Poll Award and WCT veteran.

Holly Beck (Palos Verdes, Calif.) - One of the most recognizable female surfers in the world, always looking to advance women in the sport, while tearing it up herself.

Mary Osborne (Ventura, Calif.) - Globetrotting longboarder and co-author of “Sister Surfer,” best known for winning MTV’s “Surf Girls.”

Schuyler McFerran (Encinitas, Calif.) - Recently crowned the first-ever Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) Women’s World Longboard Champion

Nathan Carroll (Sunset Beach, Hawaii) - Young Hawaiian whose recent third place finish in the 6-star Lacanau Pro advanced him to within striking distance of the ‘07 WCT.

Nick Rozsa (Oxnard, Calif.) - Ventura County up-and-comer currently sitting in second place overall in the ASP Pro Junior ratings after taking first place in the East Coast Surfing Championships Pro Junior in Virginia Beach.

Also on the team: aerial assaultist Matt Rockhold (Santa Cruz, Calif.), shred master Ted “Shred” Navarro (Huntington Beach, Calif.), contest machine Kilian Garland (Santa Maria, Calif.) globetrotter Alek Parker (St. Petersburg, Fla.), and Northeast ripper Ben McBrien (Manahawkin, NJ).

From the coasts to the lakes, Freestyle also welcomes wakeboard madman Collin Harrington (Orlando, Fla.) and wakeskate dynamo Aaron Reed (Orlando, Fla.)

“We’re currently in the process of signing up a group of international riders as well as a hot list of up-and-coming groms, and look forward to helping them develop into the next generation of professionals. Moving the office to ‘Newps’ has been a real benefit. Its central location makes it much easier for the team to stop by when they are in So. Cal., plus there are always little waves in Newport in the summer, so we can go catch a few on the lunch hour!”
